My rant for today. How does TTC justify itself to taxpayers money if we keep on paying for their inflated under-service? A person for myself finds it tough to swallow when they start asking commuters to pay for their parking spaces at TTC subway stations. Isnt the idea to have a greener community, to reduce the amount of greenhouse emissions, to reduce the amount of cars on the road. By charging TTC users to pay for their parking spaces at subways stops are going to start driving to get to the centre core, including myself. It use to be a perk where if you were a TTC monthly pass holder you would be able to park in the parking lots for free if bought the pass, but this month they started implementing where you have to pay for to park. WTF is that!!!?!?!? that makes no sense. To payment for parking is to ‘maintain’ the parking lots. But if the parking lots are not going to be used whats the point in maintaining it? Financially it makes sense for TTC, not its users!!!!!! tsk tsk shame on you… i’m gonna blame you guys for puttting more CO2 in the air, cuz i’m driving to work!
Its about 2230 and I’m watching the movie Solo, for the past couple of days I’ve been trying to get into contact with recruitment agencies. You would think working for national corporations in Canada would easily transfer over here in the UK. My friend Tahric reminded me when looking for jobs in Toronto also takes time finding the ‘right’ person for the job takes time, so why should it be different over here? I’ve had recruitment agency meetings and phonecalls telling me, “your CV looks great and the client ’should’ be interested in your work….so I’m just calling to let you know i’m sending my CV to them”, I know I could have done that but nothing has blossomed yet out of these conversations and phonecalls. Apparenty, there a whole bunch of freelance work to do but how do I get into this resource?
For the people reading this and dont know my living situation let me explain. It is very difficult finding a place to live when you are not in the same country you are looking in. One of the ways I made this easier was to be housed in a homestay. A homestay is where international students would find ‘home’ accomodation. Here they give you breakfast, dinner, clean and do your laundry, just like ‘mom’ would do it.
I am one of those fortunate ones where my homestay mother is too ‘motherly’. I have to let them know where i’m going, what time i’m coming home, what time I’m gonna wake up, etc. etc…..My homestay ‘auntie’ is a bengali indian lady who married a white english man. She always talks about her son and how he got all these scholarships to Cambridge and he did this and that…..fine.. but do you know what the kicker is… she’s blind. I have never known a blind person before she sees differently from everybody else and I am amazed by her stories and her memory! Its very annoyoing when you have to ’sneak’ in the house at 3:00AM because i missed the last train…… i’ve had my time in this house and now its time to move to another flat…..
Solo is wack….
i’m finding comfort in food…. i need to go to the gym!
Yesterday was a pleasure. yesterday I saw a friend from back home in Toronto… it made me realized what I have sacrificed and what I am looking forward too. Audrey shown here made me realize that your friends will be your friends no matter where you are. And its something I already miss …..
This is a clip from our night out on St. Patty’s day. Audrey goes to London a couple times a year to shop for work and it was comforting to hear a familiar face and ‘accent’. You couldn’t imagine the amount of people out on a Saturday night, especially for a Saturday night out here in London. So many people, so many parties…… However, we kinda kept it low key, Audrey, myself and her friend Carrie had dinner at wagamama (I had some coconut flavour chicken soup), then meeting Audrey’s brother Adrian at a pub named Waxies O’Connor’s near Leicester sq. and then having drinks at her brother’s restaurant.
Good times, I hope I’ll be here long enough for anybody else to meet me in London. More to come next week!
Well, a couple days ago, I let my manager know, that February 28, 2007 will be my last day of full-time work at Rogers Cable. The reason for quitting is to pursue a dream thats been in my head for a couple of years. I will be on my way to London, England to work and travel and all associated things thats involved with relocation.
Right now I have narrowed it down to 2 choices to live, and still waiting on 2 more. Yesterday, I made up an unofficial talley between the 2 places.. Ealing’s Common (West London) and Bounds Green (uptown) Bounds green is up 13 to 2. So I think i’m gonna go with Bounds Green
