Here are two defining moments of carnival. If you can imagine the second largest street festival behind Rio.. (apparently… i dont think it beats caribana size wise, but sure does sound wise)

Second vid.
The legendary sounds of Norman Jay He’s been doing this for +20 years. I’m sorry about the sound but this was the sound that was coming out of the speakers. It was only a small part of his set. Imagine James Brown coming out of those speakers. Imagine The Clash. Imagine Lupe Fiasco. Imagine The Isley Brothers. Image house music. Here is some Jungle for your eyes and ears.

Well, it doesn’t sound as bad as I made it out to be. actually i do smell like bbq and i did dance beside someone who puked!… This weekend was the largest carnival in Europe. The carribean carnival that is known to people here as The Nottinghill Carnival. The streets were rammed with people. If you are from Toronto you understand the amount of people that line Lakeshore Blvd. and at night, having Yonge st. rammed full of party goers.

The 2 major differences between Caribana (Toronto’s carnival) and the Nottinghill carnvial is that:
1) Drinking liquor, beer or wine is mandatory if your a ‘responsible’ adult. People like to drink. Drink ALOT!!!!
2) There are about 10-15 stationary sound systems in addition to the moving sounds. So every 4-5 blocks there is a sound. Either be it some ol’skool rnb, drum n’ bass, hiphop, reggae, calypso, soca, dub, house, electro house, techo, or whatever to line the streets with party goers.

i can only imagine if caribana closed off a section on King west or the esplanade or yonge/eglington. Its kinda like the free festival on yonge street, but with drinking and not as family oriented. more dancing oriented.

i’m curious to se the difference between Caribana and The Nottinghill carnival!…..

who wants some ‘tremendous’?….. i sure do. Why doesn’t London have a 24hr chinese restaurant?…. after a night of going out, stomachs require sustanance to continue the night. Tonight i went out for a friends birthday…it started here at patara and ended up here at the Thirst Bar. I’ve realized that London has a abundance of indian, thai and middle eastern cuisines but no decent 24 hr chinese restaurants!?! After drinking the $10 mixed drinks and beer it would be nice to settle the stomach with a sizzling hot plate, fried rice with salted fish (joe) and some fried calamari!.. All they have here are kebabs and chicken shops!!!!!..

To come to think of it… didn’t i write about this subject before??????

Yes, i went to rome and did not make it to see the Sistine chapel. why you ask?….. because the lineup to go inside was a 3 - 4 hour wait to enter. and itself takes close to 2 hours to look at. I went to the Vatican city around 930am….. i got there.. looked at the line thinking it would end.. but it didn’t. However there were tours guides trying to hustle people to jump the line if they were to join the tour…. it would have cost close to 80 dollars…..

however there are alot more things to see than the sistine chapel.

i still found it a successful trip even i didn’t get to see everything… it only gives me a reason to come back!!!!
